Weekend in Wycombe

Hello! I didn't post last night but it was for good reason and planned so just get over it, jeez. ;)

Saturday I caught the train (by myself for the first time ever) and went to visit my "aunt" (she's been friend with my parents for a while so we aren't technically related) and her family in High Wycombe. I stayed with them for a week before I moved in to my dorm here and they were so fantastic to have me stay with them for the weekend. Going to school in Appleton is odd because I am far enough from home that my parents don't visit too often but I am close enough that if something happened, it would be easy to go home. This fact has kind of skewed my perspective of being in another country. I keep forgetting that, even though I'm away at school, my parents are really far away. So when I started getting a little homesick, it was nice to runaway from school for a couple days and spend time with "family." I haven't spent a ton of time with them before coming here because, obviously, they live here. But Auntie Bev, Makena and Drew have visited the states several times so I am comfortable with them. That combined with the fact that they are so much like my actual family makes me feel completely at home. It's kind of scary how similar we are. We didn't do a whole lot while I was there but I am totally alright with that. On Saturday Makena and I watched entirely too many episodes of the show Catfish for our own good. Seriously, we watched a whole 9 hour marathon. Makena and I have become buddies. We get along really well and I think that has to do with how similar she is to Cyndi.

Today we woke up late and had a lazy morning. Makena, Auntie Bev and I went on a walk at a nearby park because it was absolutely beautiful outside. After that we went to a pub for Sunday roast. It was delicious. And there was so much food (Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, pigs in a blanket, peas, carrots, brussel sprouts, Yorkshire pudding, and parsnip). After that, they dropped me off at the train station and I headed home. They are so awesome to let me stay with them. They really make me feel at home. (Thanks again guys!!)

The last thing I did today was Skype with my parents (and their Superbowl party). It was nice to see all the people that are usually hanging out at my house and I just miss everyone so much! Now it's time for bed because I have class in the morning.
