This weekend, Jill and I went to Oxford to visit Kalle. She is another Lawrence student (Jill's roommate) who is studying at University of Oxford this year. She was very generous and let us crash on her floor for a night. We left Friday morning and took a train out to Oxford. The ride was only about an hour long so it was really easy. Kalle met us at the train station and we stopped at Byron Burgers for lunch. We headed to Kalle's college and dropped off all of our stuff in her room. We then headed back in to town and saw a few sights on the way. Oxford is absolutely beautiful. This whole country is beautiful. In town we stopped at Primark so I could buy a dress (more on that later) and then got milkshakes at Shakespeare's. I think that is the greatest idea for a shop I ave ever seen. I got a Romeo & Juliet which had strawberries and Nutella. It was amazing.
For dinner we went to Formal Hall. It's a dining option that (if I remember correctly) is offered every Friday night. It's exactly what it sounds like. Everyone gets dressed up and eats a fancy 3 course meal. It was really cool and kind of reminded me of Harry Potter and Yule Ball. One thing I learned is that I am not a fan of wine. Every group brings their own bottles of wine to drink with dinner. Kalle brought one for all of us and Jill and I are not the biggest fans. haha After dinner we went back to Kalle's room and a few of her friends (who are all American visiting students) came and hung out. They seem really cool and I had a really fun time.
This morning we went to brunch and then Jill and I went to do some exploring. Kalle needed to get some work done (because her schedule is very busy and I am greatly impressed by the amount of work she gets done) so it was just the two of us. We walked around a bit and, after a little confusion, found the University Gardens. We walked around for a couple hours and saw some very interesting things. A lot of the park is underwater because of all of the rain we've been getting. There has been a lot of flooding all over the country. After a while of walking, Jill and I looked up and across a field we saw a ton of people playing a game. After a quick beat, we realised what it was. There were a bunch of people playing Quidditch. It looked like a professional practise. We decided to walk over and sit on a bench to watch (and take pictures) for a few minutes. A couple seconds after we sat down, someone got hurt. I didn't think anything of it until a few minutes later when I realised that he still hadn't gotten up. There were a few people helping him and everyone else was continuing to practise. One of the guys was on the phone, most likely calling for an ambulance. We decided we should leave because it wasn't any of our business and they clearly had everything under control.

Also, I think my blog has a weird half American English, half British English dictionary so please don't judge my inconsistent spelling. :)
